Beneath a Mexican Sky – Chelsea Flower Show 2017
Size of project – 60 sqm
Build time – 7 days
Project Value – £125,000
Brief
Our brief from the designer, Manoj Malde, was to build his Mexican themed garden at the Chelsea flower show 2017. The garden was based upon the architect Louis Barragan. The garden as proposed to be located within a hot Mediterranean climate or an arid Mexican climate.
Build
Construction of show gardens is intense and requires meticulous planning. Lots of pre-build is required to ensure construction of the garden within the allocated time. Construction techniques change from normal landscaping construction so a good knowledge of construction materials and experience in the field are essential.
Materials
Predominantly in this garden construction the main material used is micro cement. This is a new product to the landscaping sector and we were pleased to have a very successful company form Spain get involved with us on this project. The micro cement achieved the blue colour in the pool and the finish to the floating walkway that went over the water. Available in many colours, finishes and textures the micro cement really helped to give this garden a very innovative style.
